SF calls for ‘wealth tax’ to control house prices

A WEALTH tax on second home owners and property speculators is needed to ease the housing crisis, Sinn Féin insisted yesterday.

The party demanded the Government restores quotas on developers, and require that 20% of schemes be set aside for social housing.

Sinn Féin’s Sean Crowe TD stated that just 1% of the 81,000 new dwellings completed last year fell within the affordable and social categories.
