PEOPLE found in possession of child pornography should be obliged to attend counselling, according to a leading children’s agency.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) said a child protection investigation should also be carried out in cases where the perpetrator has children.

ISPCC boss Paul Gilligan said “a small, but significant proportion” of people viewing child pornography go on to abuse.
