Man accused of withholding information on feud killing

Andrew Nolan, aged 26, of 51, Ashe Avenue, John Carew Park, Southill, Limerick, is charged with withholding information relating to the death of Michael Campbell-McNamara on October 20, 2003.

Mr McNamara’s body was found at a place known as Barry’s Field.

The McCarthy-Dundon gang is suspected of carrying out the murder.

Detective Dave Bourke told yesterday’s court sitting that he arrested Nolan at his home address shortly after 12pm and brought him to Roxboro Road garda station.

Detective Sergeant Tom O’Connor gave evidence of charging Nolan. Det Sgt O’Connor objected to an application for bail by solicitor Ted McCarthy.

He said that previously Nolan had arranged to come to Roxboro Road garda station to meet gardaí, but had left the jurisdiction.

Det Sgt O’Connor said that Nolan did not return until last Saturday night.

He said if given bail, Nolan would not stand trial.

Nolan told Judge Tom O’Donnell that he had returned for his child’s birthday party yesterday and that it was his intention to hand himself up after the party.

Judge O’Donnell remanded Nolan in custody to the same court next Thursday.

Mr Campbell-McNamara’s body was found in a ditch by a man out walking a dog.
