Government urged to attract employers after job losses

THE Government is being urged to make every effort to attract new employers into the country, after a week where more than 600 jobs were lost or seriously threatened in the main industrial centres of Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

The latest planned closure is by Unilever Ireland. The company will shut down its plant in Inchicore in Dublin by the end of March 2007, with the loss of 125 jobs.

The facility produces Knorr soups and sauces, Hellmann’s Mayonnaise along with blending and packaging Lyons Tea.
