SEI calls for sustained drive to tackle carbon emissions

A MASSIVE surge in car ownership means road traffic now pumps more deadly carbon emissions into the air than industry, government advisers warned yesterday.

With car ownership up 62% since 1990, there is now one car for every two people in the state, Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) revealed.

That’s more cars than permanently occupied homes.
