GARDAÍ will put a major traffic plan into operation at dawn tomorrow for the start of the four-day national and world ploughing championships at Grangeford, Tullow, Co Carlow.

Detours, parking restrictions and one-way systems will be operated by gardaí, backed up by the force’s aerial and mounted units, along with stewards drawn mainly from the National Ploughing Association (NPA) countrywide.

Five car parking zones will be identified by individual colours and all routes to the 600-acre site will be sign posted by the Automobile Association.
