Memory lapses caused by trauma, says Dunne

FORMER supermarket boss Ben Dunne has submitted psychiatric reports to the Moriarty Tribunal in a bid to avoid adverse findings against him for paying large sums of cash to former Taoiseach Charles Haughey.

Memory lapses caused by trauma, says Dunne

The well-known businessman is understood to have taken the surprise move of disclosing to the inquiry’s chairman, Mr Justice Michael Moriarty that he has been receiving psychiatric counselling for the past 15 years.

The former head of the Dunnes Stores grocery group believes the psychological impact of a number of traumatic events in his life will explain why he had difficulty in recalling details of events which came under the scrutiny of the inquiry.
