Water works to boost river’s health

Waterford City Council have signed contracts with the international division of Anglian Water, one of the leading providers of water and waste water services in the UK, for a waste water treatment plant on the north side of the River Suir at Gorteens, Co Kilkenny.

The new infrastructure is a key part of the €56.5m Waterford Main Drainage project, which has been designed to intercept all waste water discharges currently flowing into the Suir and, in accordance with EU Directives and Irish regulations, to transfer that waste water for treatment at the new plant.
