Greens defend U-turn on corporate tax hike
Up to this year, the Greens had advocated raising corporation tax from the existing 12.5% rate to 15%.
The tax is charged on company profits and the party argued an increase was both sustainable and necessary to help ensure “a fairer society”. But Fianna Fáil and the PDs repeatedly pointed to the proposed hike as evidence that Green Party tax policy was misguided, arguing that it would “kill jobs”.
