THE Labour Party yesterday claimed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) latest report on water quality in Ireland painted an alarming picture of water pollution in Ireland.

The party’s environment spokesman Eamon Gilmore said the findings demanded urgent action by the Government.

He called for tighter enforcement of water pollution legislation and better waste treatment facilities and said that these would be the keys to solving Ireland’s water pollution problem.
