THIS winter, nobody should have to wait on a trolley for more than 24 hours, the head of the Health Service Executive (HSE) Professor Brendan Drumm declared last night.

“In fact, nobody should have to wait on a trolley at all,” he said as he reflected on his first year as HSE chief executive.

He said the HSE was determined to ensure that anybody waiting was in a bed in accommodation equivalent to a hospital ward so their investigations could begin immediately.
