Residents hit out at excavation
The residents of Inniskeen, near Carrickmacross, have claimed the work, which is described as a private development, poses a threat to the area.
The work has begun close to the old family residence of Patrick Kavanagh near the main Inniskeen/Carrickmacross Road, which was frequently visited in the past by the poet’s brother Dr Peter Kavanagh, prior to his death in the United States earlier this year.
It is understood the private excavation work, which is being undertaken in the area, is to be discussed by members of the Kavanagh Society over the weekend. Yesterday no one was available to make any official comment on the excavation work.
