CORK City Council is locked in a legal battle with a Dutch company over the use of the internet domain name cork.eu, and has already suffered a setback.

Traffic Web Holding (TWH), which has a Benelux trade mark, applied for the domain name on January 5 last, while the city council lodged its application six days later.

However, the city fathers, who organised last year’s European Capital of Culture, argued that they should be awarded the domain name because they filed supporting documentation before TWH did.
