Breakthrough obesity vaccine ‘might not be successful in humans’
While the vaccine looks promising in tests on rats, it might not be as successful when tested on humans, said Dr John O’Riordan, the Irish College of General Practitioners’ representative on the National Task Force on Obesity.
The researchers discovered that when they gave rats a vaccine against a “hunger hormone” called ghrelin, the animals were able to eat what they wanted without packing on body fat.
