THE number of complaints made to the Labour Court has trebled in the past five years, new figures have revealed.

The sharp increase recorded in the court’s annual report for 2005, published today is a reflection of Ireland’s economic growth, particularly in the construction sector.

Chairman of the court Kevin Duffy said the increase was also due to a higher level of monitoring by the unions and the Construction Industry Federation of compliance with the labour agreements.
