Callely campaign against ‘boy racers’ scrapped

EX-JUNIOR Transport Minister Ivor Callely’s last campaign to take “boy racers” off the roads has been kicked to touch in an overhaul of the National Car Test system.

It is expected that despite his promises, tinted windows and double exhausts will not be banned in changes to the system to be announced later this week.

The Department of Transport says it will publish a new set of guidelines for NCT inspectors, which eliminate a number of anomalies from the system.
