Cullen puts brakes on Bus Éireann coach deal

THE Minister for Transport was yesterday asked to put the brakes on a €16 million order from Bus Éireann for 60 new passenger coaches which have no wheelchair accessibility.

Following a visit from the chairperson of the National Disability Authority, Anglea Kerins, Minister Martin Cullen requested the chairman of CIÉ to take another look at the specifications of the 60 Scania coaches.

The buses would have been used in the Expressway long distance fleet.
