THE Government was yesterday accused of ignoring the most important aspects of the health service and failing to act to improve the situation for seven years.

At the first Dáil debate since the launch of the Government’s new health strategy 10 days ago, Health Minister Micheál Martin came under fire from numerous Opposition deputies, some of whom are shortly due to be removed from health boards.

However, M Martin defended his plans and made a plea for cross-party support in implementing the changes.
