Killarney honours

KILLARNEY Town Council has set up a sub-committee to devise a system to honour locally-born people who have made special achievements.

Already, the council accords civic receptions on a regular basis, but a three-tiered honours list is now being looked at.

The main honour would likely be freedom of the town, second would be a civic reception and third a certificate of merit.

The sub-committee includes Mayor Brian O’Leary, Councillors Sheila Casey, Tom Doherty and Patrick O’Donoghue. Former councillor Sean Counihan is to be invited to join.
