Cork 2005: Eurochild
Tigh Filí, The Poets’ House in Cork, will hold this week-long festival in collaboration with Euro École, Nantes.
Children from outside Ireland who have written and painted for the project will be celebrated and published. It is also planned to re-issue a special Tenth Anniversary Issue of A Child’s Famine to commemorate this milestone. The Eurochild project takes “Building Confident Europeans” as one of its themes and wishes to see the children of Europe meeting face to face in the cafés and on the safe streets of Cork.Choral Festival:
The Cork International Choral Festival has courageously stretched the boundaries of choral music in partnership with Cork 2005.
This year a unique programme will heighten the profile of the Choral Festival and introduce unique strands such as “Ethnic Voices”, a series of choral moments, as well as “Contemporary Europe”, a programme of contemporary choral music from across the new European Union. The Midsummer Festival, Cork Film Festival, Folk Festival and Guinness Jazz Festival will all have longer and more detailed programmes.
