A €1 BILLION dual-carriageway linking the outskirts of Dublin to the south east is expected to get the green light next week, despite more than 100 objections to the route.

The findings of the oral hearing into the planned construction of the first phase of the 107km route between Kilcullen, Co Kildare and Powerstown, Co Carlow, will be announced on May 10.

But informed sources say that despite many objections the route is to go ahead.
