A MAN who was in a coma for more than a month following a pub assault is recovering, it emerged yesterday.

The Co Tipperary man, who is in his early 40s, and a was being treated in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, has finally came out of the coma.

He received serious head injuries in an assault outside Rody Boland’s pub in Rathmines, Dublin on November 26. Gardaí carried out an extensive investigation and tracked down many of the people who were socialising in the pub that night for interviews.

Detective Inspector John Jennings of Terenure Garda Station, who is heading the investigation, said a file would be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

He added that medical staff were hopeful the man would be able to recover from his injuries.
