SECOND level teacher unions reached agreement with the Department of Education last night in their bitter dispute on the timing of parent-teacher meetings.

The deal was struck after proposals were put forward by the public service arbitration board which had been asked to try and resolve the deadlock.

However, the way has not yet been cleared for the payment of benchmarking increases to the country’s 50,000 teachers.
