Criminals’ headquarters expected to fetch €4m
The property, which contains retail outlets, warehouse space and 14 apartments, is expected to fetch €4-5 million when it goes under the hammer.
Eagle House, Smithfield was handed over to the State by Noel Duggan and Christy Dunne, who used the premises as headquarters for their lucrative trade in smuggled goods for years.
Duggan, 42, a close friend of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch, earned the nickname Mr Kingsize for the huge volume of black market cigarettes he managed to pour onto the streets.
In an interview two weeks ago, he said: “CAB have taken everything and now I haven’t even got the price of a packet of smokes.”
CAB has been investigating the pair for a number of years, slapping them with a bill of nearly €5m.
Eagle House has been owned by Duggan and 62-year-old Dunne for seven years.
Both have convictions for handling stolen goods.
Eagle House was the trading address of Gadbrook Limited, the holding company of which the pair are directors.
According to Companies House, the company has four separate outstanding mortgage agreements.
This is the first seized property to be sold by the CAB this year.
The auctioneers say it will be on show for the next few weeks and will be sold at the end of this month.
The Criminal Assets Bureau is seeking offers of over €4m.
