Attempt to woo nurses back to work

It is holding a Return to Nursing Practice open day on Monday, May 30. The open day venue is the Main Classroom at the Centre for Nurse Education, Waterford Regional Hospital.

Registered nurses who have not been nursing for some years are welcome to drop into the open day from 10am until 3pm.

Specialist co-ordinator Breda Adamson says: “this is a great opportunity for nurses to learn about the Return to Nursing Practice, where they can update their skills and return to a newly invigorated career. There have been many positive changes in nursing since the 1998 report of the Commission on Nursing.

“The six-week course will give them the opportunity to update their knowledge and skills and gives an introduction to modern advances in nursing care.”

Applicants must be registered nurses who have been out of nursing for the past five years. The course is offered free of charge.

Applications forms or further information is available from Breda Adamson, Specialist Co-ordinator, Centre for Nurse Education 051 848000 at ext 2839.
