AN Irish motorcyclist was fighting for his life yesterday in a Cypriot hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash.

Michael Andrew Chaney, aged 25, lost control of his motorcycle and hit a tree yesterday morning in Ayia Napa, a popular clubbing resort. He was taken to the nearby Larnaca General Hospital.

A Department of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman said: “He is currently receiving medical treatment. We have been in contact with his family and are receiving consular assistance.”
