Dail recall urged over Cabinet spending cuts

OPPOSITION parties yesterday called for the Daíl to be recalled from its summer break to debate what they described as savage Government spending cutbacks.

After a series of cost-cutting measures in health and education last week, it emerged yesterday that road building and Garda recruitment may be next on the hit list.

Labour and the Greens yesterday said the Taoiseach should explain to the Dáil why the state of the country's finances had been concealed.
