‘We could have cleared them in 20 minutes’

RANK-AND-FILE garda sources yesterday criticised the management of last Saturday’s riots following an official Garda report into the events.

The report, published on Tuesday, found senior officers had intelligence of republican plans to disrupt the Love Ulster rally.

An anonymous letter was also sent that warned the Continuity IRA (CIRA) was going to target the rally and mount a sit-down protest to stop it.
