Siege victims arrive for Beslan memorial concert

HE had one of the most famous faces of 2004, yet Georgy Farniyev went unrecognised by his fellow travellers as he passed through Dublin Airport last night.

The 10-year-old Russian schoolboy, however, has no desire to be reminded of his “fame” as his face became the iconic image of the terrorist siege at a school in his hometown of Beslan last September.

A famous photograph captured the hearts of a global audience as it showed Georgy looking frightened and bewildered as he held his hands behind his head, while overlooked by a masked terrorist with his foot on explosives.
