Gardaí wait for results after man’s body is found
The body of the man, in his early 40s, was discovered at a flat at Harold’s Cross Road, on the southside of the city at 1.30pm yesterday. The grim discovery was made by the man’s landlord who immediately notified the gardaí.
Garda sources indicated that the man had wounds to his body that made the death appear suspicious. The positioning of his body also gave further grounds for concern.
The flat was immediately sealed off and members of the Garda Technical Bureau carried out a forensic examination.
The body was later removed from the flat and taken to the Dublin City Morgue on the Malahide Road where a full post mortem was to be carried out by State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.
Locals said the man, whose name has not been released, lived alone at the flat.
He hadn’t been seen by neighbours since last Monday and gardaí believe he may have been dead for a number of days.
The investigation is being carried out by gardaí based at Terenure Garda Station and led by Chief Superintendent Joe McGarrity.
