‘It has been too long now, all hope is gone’

A TEENAGE boy told yesterday of how he jumped into the water in a vain attempt to save a friend who was swept off a pier into the Irish Sea.

As coastguards called off the search for 14-year-old Jordan Murdoch, David Hackett relived the battle to save him.

The pair were playing on a pier at Killough harbour in Co Down when waves lashing the coastal village pulled Jordan in.
