THE woman who complained a Cork barrister terrified her with his approach during a break in a court case never saw him as a “tiger in a wig” when he was cross-examining witnesses in the case, it emerged yesterday.

Padraig Cullinane, aged 43, of Courthouse Chambers, Washington Street, Cork, denies a charge of intimidating Caroline Settini who was a potential witness in a case at Cork Circuit Courthouse on November 14, 2002.

On the second day of the trial of Mr Cullinane yesterday, his senior counsel, Blaise O’Carroll, read extensively from the transcript of the case where Mr Cullinane was representing Ms Settini’s husband and was questioning witnesses on matters relating to alleged social welfare fraud.
