Fast-track asylum process criticised by refugee group

CONTROVERSIAL measures aimed at speeding up the asylum process are retrograde and disturbing, according to the Irish Refugee Council (IRC).

The measures, which include a significant reduction in the rights of those seeking asylum, will be introduced by Justice Minister Michael McDowell as part of the Immigration Bill 2003.
