Gardaí appeal over fatal crash

Martin Kersey, 39, died after his red Suzuki motorbike was in collision with a grey Opel Corsa at Currahaly, just west of Farran Cross at about 7.30am.

His death brought to 272 the number of people killed on the nation’s roads so far this year.

Mr Kersey, who had moved recently from Douglas to Carriganimma, was rushed to Cork University Hospital (CUH) but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The two men who were in the car are from the Farran area and in their late teens. They were also removed to CUH where they were recovering, although their injuries were described as not life threatening.
