Unemployed to get access to dole across EU

UNEMPLOYED people seeking work abroad will be able to receive the dole in other EU countries.

Announcing the measure yesterday, Social and Family Affairs Minister Mary Coughlan said red tape would be abolished allowing social welfare benefits to be received in any EU state for six months.

Ms Coughlan said she expected the measure to be agreed during Ireland's six-month EU presidency, which begins next week.
