ALL parties aspiring to be part of government in the North must turn their backs on violence for good, the Rev Ian Paisley’s Democratic Unionists insisted yesterday.

The party made the demand in a glossy 32-page Assembly Election manifesto, which set out seven tests for a lasting political settlement.

The DUP’s manifesto, half of which is devoted to the party’s agenda for devolved government, also attacked David Trimble’s record, claiming the Ulster Unionists could no longer be trusted to represent their community in negotiations. Its seven tests are:
