THREE potential suicides, an armed robbery and the alleged paedophile ‘grooming’ of a girl were reportedly detected during the pilot run of a new web monitoring package for schools.

A series of software packages, officially launched in Ireland yesterday by Communications Minister Dermot Ahern, they are designed as early warning systems for schools, parents and employers.

Built in are libraries of keywords and phrases, covering drugs, alcohol abuse, pornography, sexual predators and other terminology.
