THE Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) has criticised a local authority for signaling that it is going to means-test applicants for the Disabled Persons Grant.

The association fears this move will be followed by other councils throughout the country.

The criticism followed a meeting yesterday of the Northern Division of Cork County Council where officials said they would have to introduce a new system of allocating money because they were not given the proper level of funding from Central Government to meet demand.
