They’ve swept the boards with their record-breaking dance show and now they’ve snapped up one of the country’s most coveted houses.

Situated on the shoreline of Kenmare Bay, the three-bedroom home turned heads among the world’s top celebrities.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, James Bond star Pierce Brosnan and Roxy Music legend Bryan Ferry all inquired about the opulent property.

The old-style farmhouse located four miles from Kenmare was built in 1996. The property comes with 16 acres of land and a 120-metre pebble beach.

The pair will also be able to berth a 40-foot yacht at a specially built sheltered pier. From their large balcony, Mr McColgan and Ms Doherty will be able to look out on Dinish Island, which was sold in 2001 for a cool €1.9m.

The house, known locally as Dawros Point, is surrounded by water on three sides and has the best views of the spectacular Kenmare Bay. A cottage near the main building has been converted into stables, making it the perfect property for horse enthusiasts.

When the house first went on the market in 1996 it was sold for around €300,000 but its last owner invested heavily in the home and adjoining lands.

Christopher MacDermott, who also ran the Square Pint in Kenmare, put the house back on the market after emigrating to Switzerland.

Representatives for Ferguson, Brosnan and Ferry all made inquiries about the luxurious abode in recent months.

“This is a property that attracted interest from a good number of people, including some heavy-hitters,” auctioneer Mark Daly said.

Actor and former soccer player Vinny Jones has also built a house near Kenmare.

Jones has promised to have a housewarming for his new neighbours and Hollywood stars when the house is completed.
