IN the first political attack of the New Year, Fine Gael Justice spokesman Jim O’Keeffe called on Justice Minister Michael McDowell to “put an end to his control-freakery”.

Mr O’Keeffe said Mr McDowell should make a New Year’s resolution to start answering questions in an upfront manner instead.

“During 2005 Justice Minister Michael McDowell managed to be even less co-operative with his Dáil colleagues. The minister failed repeatedly to answer questions tabled in the Dáil, and indulged in excessive media manipulation outside,” he said.
