The Harley Medical Group, which sees clients from all over the country at its Dublin clinic, says people are giving themselves and others the gift of surgery this year.
Most popular in the run-up to Christmas are injectable treatments used to either smooth facial lines on the brow, around the eyes and the mouth, or to increase lip definition and boost pouting possibilities. They typically account for 10% of treatments carried at The Harley Medical Group during the year.
But they've increased to 35% of business based on a study of November and December bookings at the Dublin clinic. The treatments vary from anything from 206 for a half syringe of collagen to boost one lip, to 315 for one line smoothing botox treatment, and upwards.
Development Director with the Harley Medical Group, Louise Braham, said people are queuing up to give themselves a pre-Christmas boost. "These treatments are a regular part of many people's regular beauty routines and are slotted in as systematically as a trip to the hairdressers or beauty clinic, whilst others see it more as a 'special treat' to help them prepare for big events such as weddings, birthdays and Christmas.
"In October, our injectable business slows down as customers put treatments back a month to make sure they are in feeling really confident for Christmas activities, whilst others save up their loyalty points for a free treatment at Christmas."
Fashion has a dramatic impact on the most sought-after mouth shape; this season The Pout is out and has been replaced by The Wave.
Influenced by the current 60s fashions, it is a Julie Christie-style lip look that accentuates the all-round shape of the mouth, with an extra boost to the lower lip.
