Three hospitalised after being stabbed at house party
Detectives are still waiting to interview the three men, all in their mid-20s, who were among nearly a dozen people who attended the party at the house in Cork city.
Gardaí were called to the scene at Monastery Terrace, near Blarney Street, shortly after 7am yesterday. When they arrived, they discovered the three injured men. Blood-stained clothes and shoes littered the outside of the semi-detached house.
Considerable damage was done to the inside of the five-bedroom house and a front window was broken.
One of the injured men is understood to be Welsh and lived in the rented house with four other people. The other two injured men are from Cork city, but were not living in the house.
They were rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. They were in a comfortable condition last night and their injuries are not life-threatening.
A senior garda spokesman confirmed that a number of weapons had been seized at the house, including a knife which was found hidden in the exhaust of a car parked in the driveway.
Gardaí also removed the bloodstained clothes and shoes. The scene was being preserved yesterday for technical examination.
It is not clear what time the party started at, but it is believed a group of men called to the house at around 3.30am.
“We are interviewing all the people who attended the party and we have also carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area,” the garda spokesman said.
He added that he hoped detectives would be in a position to interview the three injured men “in the coming days” when their medical condition improved.
He said gardaí were seeking witnesses and anybody with information should contact Gurranabraher garda station at (021) 4395540.
