Gardaí hopeful of arresting man over city centre rape

GARDAÍ in Waterford say they are hopeful of making a positive identification of a man who allegedly raped a young woman in the city centre before Christmas.

Detectives have spent a number of weeks examining a large amount of closed circuit television (CCTV) footage recorded in different parts of the city on the night of the attack.

They are confident the video footage and the assistance of the public will result in the apprehension of a suspect in the coming weeks.
