Van driver dies in crash

GARDAÍ in Waterford are appealing for witnesses to an early-morning crash yesterday in which a man died.

The collision on the main Waterford to Cork road between a van and a lorry occurred at 7.15am at the junction with Kilmacthomas. The driver of the van died. He was named as Patie Lawlor, aged in his mid-50s and from the Kilmacthomas area.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for a postmortem examination.
