500 drivers receive penalty points notices in the post

ALMOST 500 drivers are to get notification in the post this week that they will have penalty points put on their driving licences.

The notices are being sent out from the Department of the Environment, which oversees road traffic offences.

The 471 motorists have already paid the on-the-spot €80 speeding fines imposed under new regulations brought in by Transport Minister Seamus Brennan on October 31.
