Police hunt for teenage boy who raped 15-year-old girl
The victim had spent Saturday evening with up to 40 young people in the Harmony Hill area of Lisburn.
But after she left the crowd with her attacker, the schoolgirl was sexually assaulted near shops between Moss Road and Sharry Drive at around 9pm.
Inspector Karen Baxter, the officer leading the investigation, urged the suspect to turn himself in.
“This has been a terrible ordeal for the young girl and her family. They are devastated. We would urge this boy to come forward and speak to police at the earliest opportunity,” she said.
The teenager is described as aged between 13 and 15 years, 5ft 5in, of slim build, with dark hair and tanned skin. He was wearing a navy and white top, blue jeans and a baseball cap.
Police believe he is from the Lisburn area.
The SDLP’s Patricia Lewsley also urged anyone with information about the rape to come forward.
“This was clearly a brutal and calculated attack. The young girl involved has suffered a distressing and harrowing ordeal,” she said.
