FIVE years after turning down Brendan Howlin’s offer to become leader, the Labour Party is presented with the option for a second time in order to make amends.

It's quite simple why the Labour grassroots should opt for him now after being rejected by his parliamentary party colleagues as leader in 1997, according to the Wexford TD.

"I think they realise they made a mistake five years ago," he says.
