Bin charges rise may force householders private: TD

THE Government has been warned that householders may switch to private waste collectors from local authority-run services as a result of increased bin charges this year.

It comes as an Irish Examiner survey reveals many householders around the country are facing rising costs for their bin collection, with some areas set for increases of up to 45%.

Residents in Waterford County Council will have to pay a new fixed charge of €150 per annum on top of the €13 charge for each wheelie bin collection already one of the most expensive services anywhere in the Republic.
