IDA pursues closing company for €2m grant

THE IDA is negotiating with the Sport Socks (Ireland) Ltd, in Caherciveen, Co Kerry, for the return of some of the €2m which had been paid to the company in grants.

The American-owned company, which had been experiencing marketing difficulties, ceased production yesterday with the loss of 149 jobs in Caherciveen.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it would be laying off all of its manufacturing employees.
