LEADING a host of celebrities to last night’s gala premier of Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets at Dublin’s Savoy Cinema, RTÉ star Gerry Ryan described the event as a poignant one for personal reasons.

“It was the last film that Richard Harris starred in and it’s quite poignant because we used to spend every Christmas with him,” said Mr Ryan. “He was a very big star and we miss him greatly.”

The gala screening, which marks the second instalment in the Potter series, was also attended by young cast members Devon Murray, who plays the character of Seamus Finnegan and Jamie Waylott, who plays Crabbe.
